An option to give up

Postby TJgamer » 29 Apr 2012, 03:39

Now I know many of you are instantly going to reply to this saying "No! We don't need surrender! Trolls will force surrender early-game."
I understand that. But it's another problem when a game becomes very one-sided and there's no hope for the losing team. Many people don't like having to wait out a painfully long match where it's impossible to overcoming the winning side, and they are unable to leave as it would cause a bad mark on their record. It's a waste of time.
And I know it's safe to leave a game when a player has disconnected, but what if you have one or two terrible teammates that force your group to fail?
Again, I know that there can be trolls who would take advantage of this, but I think the long waits for lousy games is much more annoying. I strongly suggest a surrender option....or better yet, a system in which it is safe to leave the game when the game has gone for a long time (maybe over 30 minutes) and the opposing team has the game in the bag.

I think the problem of not having ff/cc is even greater. We all know people are either douches or just insecure, and want to stomp on others. So once they get the upper hand in Dota, they want to enjoy themselves as much as they can. They pick off enemies in the fountain, they go rosh and farm the woods to get rapier etc.

Without ff/cc, you will always have intentional feeders and people who give up, as when they do that, the game do take less time! Just implement a good report system and a good ff/cc function (not anything like HoN), and that should no doubt be the very best way to go.

(FF/CC?)
What if the opposing team wants to drag out the match? That really ticks off the losing side.
And let's not forget AFK'ers too.
I just hope the reporting system is efficient.

Or just activate the option when ennemy team has more than 25 kills than your team or when average lvl of ennemy team is +10 than yours.

ff = forfeit, commonly used in DotA.
cc = concede, used in HoN.

I think they didn't overlook the concede feature. I think the spuriously haven't put to make players play the game longer. This makes you play the game longer, and you have higher chances of discovering bugs.

We will probably see the cc feature in first release.

Not a good idea. I had games where I won with such huge number differents (because it seems like ppl think dota is a deathmatch..)

Most of those games though you should not have won. Most "turn arounds" are due to the fact that the winning team just stops playing as the match should be over. It is boring to play a match that should be over, which makes it so easy to turn around. That is a big flaw in Dota 2 pub, and I would like to see that one adressed.

No, some of them were won thanks to enemy mistakes. We won teamfights, which won us the game for example (whole team dead, free push). I had lots of game where we won like that.

Show me the game where one team has an average level of 10 higher, plays their best but still loses.

How about some kind of in-game stats determine how many ppl you need to agree to ff/cc for it to go through? That way you won't need all 5 to ff/cc when it tbh is lost, but you need all 5 when the game most likely is not lost =).
