Offensive language VS International feed

Postby nhatthien17 » 02 Dec 2011, 00:13

I have a problem that i think everybody play dota have before.
What do you think about when the game was going smooth, and your team will win for sure. However, even team was winning, 1 of teamate keep complain, trolling, say bad things to teamate only because he die only one time such as " noob, dumbass, trash, stupid".
For example : Es, sladar go gank pluge and morphing. after fight for 3-4s, Es out of mana and only have about 100hp left, pluge have the same situation. Sladar chase pluge when es run back from morphing to avoid he hit him. Next, es try to use his portion, but he still have no mana ( es level 4-5). Finnaly, after chase pluge awhile, sladar killed him, but morphing turn back and kill sladar too. At the time sladar die, he say that es is dumb, while es dont just come and just hit morphing ( about 500-600 HP with almost full mana).
After that situation, es still play, however, teamate still hear that sladar talking with offensive language.
Can hold anymore, es got mad, he do international feed. And you know, sladar keep voice chat and he say )*^)*(&^%(&^$%$ ( lol i dont remember all, but it is alot of offensive language)

In that situation, what you gonna do if you are ES or sladar.?

Best thing to do when someone cryies is just ignoring it.
I've experienced that there is a chance they stop because no one in the team cares.
I've also experienced that telling them that Valve fights against offensive players stops the rage.
I used to play HoN A LOT and there were a bunch of games where the team only looses because of teammates shouting each other. Its bad for the moral even when it is for less then a couple of minutes it decreases your moral.
I have also expirienced that sometimes a Player needs to advice and everything works fine, or when youre team is loosing just give some advice and you can turn the game yours.
Sorry for my english im from Switzerland =/

You mute their audio channel. Simple. If they're talking trash you mute them so you can't hear them. As for intentional feeding, use the new report function to report them for it.

Let keyboard warriors be what they want and enjoy how pathetic they are in real life that they can only act tough in front of a computer.

Question/Suggestions:

1. Is there a way to mute players from voice chat in-game?
2. Does reporting someone for offensive text/chat mute them as well?

I have same problem, I'll play here now ... but I missed my connection and when I returned from my team must die by 3-4 times and kunka food because it was the spider aggressive and buy used text 3k gold with courier and suicide in avacalhar enemy heroes for the game. I print because I hope that the player whose nickname is ShankinMcJenkins lose your beta key, he does not deserve to play dota 2. Very anti-game.

Why do you want to make a game nerd-free? Nerds are good for a game as they are usually friendly and intelligent.

maybe those 'nerds' you play with are like that. the 'nerds' i'm referring to are spoilers and trolls or even worse do nothing constructive in the game, staying silent and only come up with epic fail comebacks when flamed.

Why do you use the term nerd? You use the term as if being a nerd being a bad thing, and I find that extremely offensive.

People should first define word "nerd" here.

To be fair being a 'nerd' in any context is never a good thing, but I'm not saying being some guy who is obsessed with his own looks, popularity, money and hot girls is good either.

Actually i feel like the most horrible trolls and game ruiners are people who opposites of nerds, real life kings who spit on computers and nerds. They come to play with attitude "LOL shitty game, it doesnt matter if i die and troll here, ruin others game and then just flame people who really want to win".

Imho worst people in game community are anti-nerds.

Very often they start trolling when a nerd says something to them, well, usually that they suck in the game but the rage following that nerd comment will have bigger impact on the game. Usually this will lead to non-nerd player to afk, feed intentionally, or rage in voice chat or text chat.

It is nothing wrong being a nerd. I am a nerd, and proud of it. I enjoy stuff like learning the first 100 decimals of pi etc. I enjoy sex too though ofc, who doesn't?

Urbandictionary was quite fun read when defining nerd btw :D http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=nerd

Nerdiness has no co-relation to bad stuff happening in Dota or any other game. Period. If you say it has, you're bigot.
