Definitely agree. If it is an open beta and everyone can play it, then I don't care either when the real game comes out ^^The][nquisitoR wrote:^Same here. I mean, look at what an open beta has done for Minecraft, for instance. That game is going from strength to strength and it's been in open development for several years now.
I'm hoping Valve can achieve something similar (even though Dota 2 is quite a different game), since there is already a strong community about the game.

I know the full release won't be until 2012, but, an open beta would be satisfactory.
"Around 3:00 Interviewer: So when they gonna release DotA 2?
NS: "As developers said, they gonna release it in February, but this will be a version with incomplete hero pool. So they gonna make a pre-release to fix the bugs and stuff."
Interviewer: I heard PGG had a complaints about new engine today.
NS: "Yeah, today he had Necromicon level 3 against E-Home, and there were no hotkey for mana burn. So he was forced to do it manually, with mouse. You know, game is basically incomplete yet. Additionally, some creeps in jungle don't have hotkeys too, so it is hard to play Chen. I'm happy that only ESWC switched to DotA 2." -http://www.playdota.com/forums/555411/m5-ns-pre-release-dota-2-february/
First question: Unfortunately M5 is not going through the group stage. What can you say, NS?
"What can I say? We played very bad, especially against E-Home, basically lost every lane. We tried to practice last ten days but it was hard, game is different in many ways, and by now we didn't create own style of game. The difference is huge, even more then between CS 1.6 and CS Source. Two weeks back we won 3 official matches against Monkey Business on Intel Challnege Cup, but his was DotA 1, and now we lost to them and lost to E-Home."
Question 2: Yeah, about E-Home, what went wrong? I was behind you during the match, why yo were surprised over Heart of Tarasque on Anti-Mage?
"We said "oh, Tarasque" because it was really fast. Our Spectre didn't have such a strong slot by that time. But these late heroes like Spectre and AM should be absolutely equal in slots to fight good. Pick was good, and we were not afraid of AM, but after the 4-4 exchange fight on first minutes of the game we lost on every lane. In 15 minutes it was like 15-5 not in our favor."
Question 3: I heard PGG had a complaints about new engine today.
"Yeah, today he had Necromicon level 3 against E-Home, and there were no hotkey for mana burn. So he was forced to do it manually, with mouse. I knew that fact, but PGG wasn't. Additionally, some creeps in jungle don't have hotkeys too, so it is hard to play Chen. You know, game is basically incomplete yet. I'm happy that only ESWC switched to DotA 2."
Question 4: Release question (in first comment).
Question 5: I heard that during practice sessions Dread and you played Quake 3 mainly?
"(laughs) Yeah I, God and Ivan "Vigoss" trained hard before tournament, and yeah, Dread sometimes played Quake 3."
Question 6: So how you practiced, only 3 of you?
"There is a game with a new mechanics which you should get used to. Additionally, Dota is fully team-oriented game. We have 5 very high level skilled players, but the chemistry is not well developed yet. Imagine 5 best CS Swedish players from different clubs playing together. They just won't win."
Question 7. Or 8. Whatever. So what were your expectations? Top 3? feeling that you are not ready yet?
"We expected to go through group stage, of course I thought it would be hard. We thought of NA'VI and Orange as major problems, but lost in a group stage."
Question 8. Plans on future tournaments?
" If owner of our club is not mad at us, we expect to go to WDC, China. We are going to Kazakhstan for OSPL Autumn and Asus Autumn for sure."
