Penalty for Individuals Declining Matches

Postby Rinnegan » 20 Jul 2012, 22:54

i am assuming many people are just as frustrated as me when you queue a game, wait 5min to realize that some troll is consistently declining matches when it is 9/10. The above wait time is usually for a non cm game.

When queuing for a CM match, it is safe to say that it requires 10min+ of wait time. When the match making finds a game, it is also safe to say that someone will naturally decline at least the first couple times. With that said, i think it is deterring people from playing CM and also it is also creating negativity towards the game.

I would like to see some sort of penalty put in place for individuals who are declining matches for trolling purposes or people who queue up the game and end up leaving their desk for a great period of time.

I think after a certain number of declines, the account should be placed on low-priority, which will prevent people from trolling with their decline button and prevent people from being AFK during the queue time. It is becoming increasing difficult to queue up a CM game and is also very frustrating to see constant declines in a normal AP match.

I thought i would share that with the Dota Community and am hoping Valve or others from the Development team can put something in effect.

I have a few Solutions:
1.Instead of Looking for a whole new match when your 9/10, why not just wait for someone to that is single matchmaking to join?
2.If theres a frequent consecutive decline rate then, there should be some kind of wait time before the person can queue into games again. low priority should remain for people who leave games instead people who dont join games.
3.Ill think of something and come back

Imho there should at least be some punishment. No punishment defeats part of the purpose to have the system in the first place, to reduce wasted time ^^.

Ppl who cecline a game now have to wait 3 minutes to be able to search for another game.
In other words, there is a system something to prevent ingame.
All generalizations are false... including this one.

I think a penalty for people who decline a match found is ridiculous haha. It is clearly there for unforeseen circumstances... such as the other day when my friend logged on as the game was ready. I declined the match. Its there as a precaution, penalties should only exists when the game has actually started. Delete this thread as it will do nowhere.

Penalties should be in place when one person waste time for 9 others.

OP isn't saying to have a punishment or penalty for declining a single match, but declining several matches in a given period of time.

Do you think someone who is intentionally ruining other people's time should not be penalized?

I see were you're coming from now. Absolutely, if valve can make some sort of detection that identify people declining numerous times in a small time fame then yeah, penalties should exists.

To be honest I didn't think there were people like that out there... What complete low lifes haha

Peace!

"- Players who dodge a game will get a small matchmaking timeout"

Nice, although I don't really play Dota 2 anymore lol :P.
