Valve surprised us today by updating the blog during the Dota 2 server downtime on Valentine's Day. They posted some neat concept artwork for three heroes, Lycan, Lone Druid, and Shadow Demon! Are these heroes going to be in the beta this Thursday? Who knows, but we sure are stoked to finally see some artwork!

To show you how much we love you, and how much you are in our hearts, and how damn sorry we are for ruining Valentine’s Day, we thought we’d share with you the final concept designs for three upcoming heroes: Lone Druid, Lycan, and Shadow Demon

Lycan looks pretty cool and Shadow Demon is OK, but Syllabear looks terrible. He looks more like a cross between a werewolf and a Sioux warrior, not a forest druid.

I don't see why you're blaming lone druid. He looks like a hobo living in the forest and it's pretty original and close to the concept of a lone druid. All hero doesn't need to be nice looking guys and girls with big boobs.

lycan is nice, but remove or enlarge the fangs with more untidy facial hair and wrinkles on his face because he looks more like a vampire to me (the irony!)

syllabear should have a more forest-like theme and bear-like rather than this african plains-like theme and tiger-like. I think he would also look nicer as a tough man in his 30's or 40's than an old grandpa. btw it's a thumbs down for syllabear.

shadow demon is wicked and cool as hell, but unfortunately it doesn't fit perfectly for an int hero and his skills IMO, to me he has a ninja look. he also reminds of DotA dark seer lol.

I agree with the part about Lone but i actually like the lycan art, the enlarged teeth are on the bottom row, so he doesn't really come of as a vampire to me more like a guy who can turn into a wolf but somehow inherited the teef from the wolf. And shadow demon looks really cool though i have never played him never got around to it in DotA

Lycan doesn't look that bad ass, i mean he look so proper with the uniform, it does feel more like a vampire. Mostly because of his head and hair the way its too groom and stuff
Lone Druid look 2 old and more like a ritualist who pass his pime for a warrior, oh god now i mention it the voice acting its going to be an old man. Finally shadow demon is alright but the way he move and cast will hugely dictate if he does look like a caster.
I personally would like Lycan to be a youthful late 20-ish humanoid with his outfit being mostly an leather black overcoat with metallic accessory, not to mention his hair should be long black and pull back. (lol sorry it just feel that way) Now for Lone Druid i agree that he should be in his 30-40 and be much much more muscular for god sake he transform into a bear + ravage (that buff skill) will enlarge him. the style he has is actually good if hes younger and a little switch up, also taking out the skull accessory (wtf is up with that?)
p.s since shadow demon doesn't look human enough he can look whatever he wants with the theme of shadow/demon so i leave it up to that .
