There might be very few of you out there who are are unfamiliar with the mesmerizing voice of GlaDOS from Valve’s Portal franchise. If you loved and enjoyed it, you can get more of that in Dota 2.
Ellen McClain, the voice actor behind GlaDOS, will be giving vocals to numerous characters in the pool of Dota 2.
Speaking at the Spike Video Game Awards 2011 where she took her trophy for the Best Voice Actor (Female) for her performance in Portal 2, McClain was pretty elated about her limo ride to the show.
“This is so funny. The last time I was in a limo was in LA in 1981 with Rex Harrison! So only thirty years later, I have my second limo ride!”
She also said that she is pretty excited about how the Portal games and the lead character Chell managed to draw in a lot of young women in to gaming.
“I love the way the fans are wondering who is Chell, is Chell the offspring of GlaDOS and Cave Johnson, all this stuff. And I also think that the Portal games have drawn a lot of young women into gaming.
“I have gone to some fancons, and the women are so excited, they come in and they’re either dressed up like Chell or they’re dressed up like GlaDOS.”
But that was not all for her. She said that she will be giving her voice to multiple characters in Dota 2 along with her husband John Patrick Lowrie who is also a voice actor for games at Valve.
“Eric Wolpaw told me in the limo,” she said. “It has been announced, John and I have both done voices for Dota 2. So we’re going to be in there.”
“There are a lot of characters in Dota 2,” confirmed Lowrie who also announced earlier that he was the voice actor behind the dialog of characters such as Pudge, Storm Spirit and more.
“There are like 100 characters, so we’ve done quite a few of them.”
So all you fans of GlaDOS, it’s time to get pumped. Take your guesses on what characters Ellen McClain might have cast for.
