I hate LoL. Do you?

Postby saaanx » 05 Aug 2011, 21:49

I DO hate this ****ing game. I loved it once, but I uninstalled it like 6 months ago, and I will never install it back.

It's not just about playing it any longer, I'm asking if some people even hate it for what it became.

Among plenty of other stuff, an example could be that anywhere you go, KIDS EVERYWHERE, any normal matches are like:

NICKS:
-saaanx
-thesupermasterkiller
-darkghostofthedarkness
-mastercaptainnoob1996
-thebloodnightassassin
-xxXXdestructionmachineXXxx

You know what I'm talking about
Teammates:
Kids and/or braindeads ruining the fucking game
Kids and/or braindeads feeding
Kids and/or braindeads not even reading your simple tips, and saying "stfu noob"
Kids and/or braindeads blaming on you after your first death, when they have like a 0-9-1
Kids and/or braindeads letting you die on purpose
Kids and/or braindeads leaving the game after their 1st death, you and the other teammate do pretty well and are about to win a 2vs3, when the ****ing kid/retard comes back, feeds them, and ruins what could have been a nicely won 2vs3, making you absolutely mad.
Kids and/or braindeads engaging absolutely suicidal non-sensed dumbass teamfights, dieing and blaming on you

Enemies:
Kids and/or braindeads with tryndamere or any of these braindead-proof chars
Kids and/or braindeads spamming chat with non-sensed bullshit
Kids and/or braindeads which you could even handle a 1vs3 against them, but there comes your team to feed them, they get overfed and then you get called Noob and laugh at you when you get ganked by 3 of them, and 2/3 run away cause you almost kill them, while they have the double or the triple the kills you have.
Kids and/or braindeads that kill you with a Q+Autotarget and say "EASY"
Kids and/or braindeads in normal matches
Kids and/or braindeads in ranked matches
Kids and/or braindeads in your cereals

I may forget lots of things to say, maybe some of them are not real anymore, I just don't know, as I told you I didn't play this game for months, and I just don't give a fuck about it.

Regards
saaanx

Get someone to play with that's good.
Que SoloQue, pick a solid carry and a good initiator.
Got me out of "low-ELO Hell".
The game gets so much more enjoyable with viable and competent players when you start to climb ranked.

Well I was talking about the whole game experience, but yeah, you're both right.

Anyways, in ranked Q, I used to carry the WHOLE games with Anivia, and lead almost every match to a victory.
Got winstreaks of like 12 wins per loss, in ranked; I'm not kidding: could achieve +200 elo in a month, but it wasn't satisfying to end EVERY match I played, sweating, mad, with finger harm of being the 50% of the game typing to every ****ing one in my team to tell them what to do, or not, cause as I told before, that game is full of brain-dead zombies...

What was meant to be a pleasent match, to get some fun, was always a damn headache full of hate for me

I really expect DoTA 2 to be more "self-skill" like every game Valve does, they make it easy for braindeads but hard at the same time, allowing experienced/awesome players to beat anything/anywhere, cause they deserve it, not like in LOL.

Unfortunately, that is why LOL succeeded so much: They gave easy ways for everyone who sucked in any other game, to "PWN" in this game, and make they think for once in their lives they are not useless.

CU guys

I usually only play it when there is at least 1 friend available to play with, though I haven't had much problem with kids(I've played only around 10 games though)

I'm guessing you're casual, so I'll base my opinion on that.

First off, if you were climbing the 5x5 bracket, you wouldn't have those problems to start with.
The problems currently starts to dissipate at around 1500-1600 ELO, where you're getting mediocre and/or good people.

Second, I'm taking it you're angry and say "LOL SYX" because you're losing due to incompetent team mates; I strongly doubt you find winning/making an effort for your team a drag, that's the base goal of the game after all, and if you don't find this fun, I don't think MOBA is a gamegenre for you.

Third, ALL MOBA games are like this. Infact, Heroes of Newerth is even worse at the lower MMR's(Match Making Ratings); and DotA have them all over, since there's no solidly implemented separating of skill-level (Except if you play with one of the third-party playforms such as Garena; and while doing so it's still very badly balanced.

The MOBA genre consists of team-based games; the very core is the teamplay. I strongly, strongly doubt Valve will make DotA 2 any different when it comes to teamplay than that which it is currently in DotA, HoN, LoL, and all the other MOBA games.
saaanx wrote:Unfortunately, that is why LOL succeeded so much: They gave easy ways for everyone who sucked in any other game, to "PWN" in this game, and make they think for once in their lives they are not useless.

What ways are "easy"?
The reason you're finding low-ELO frustrating is because you're teaming up with "braindead zombies". This game is far from designed to be "easy", it's just you who probably don't know half of the "hard" material.
The most challenging part of LoL is the positioning and your teamcomposition (Teamwork); and whereas teamplay rarely exists on this level of play, positioning DOES.
It's one of the most vital things in low-ELO games. The initiator is the most valueable member of your team, and he's the biggest block on your tetris table.
Positioning is more vital in LoL than any other MOBA game due to the spell range. In HoN and DotA, most skills and attackranges have about 300-400% longer range than in LoL, which means your micro and position plays a way bigger role than in any other MOBA.

I achieved 1733 ELO when I uninstalled it. Even on that ELO people was often frustrating, and I couldn't believie it.

What I mean is, once I became really good (good enough to win any match if I really wanted to) I could climb up that much ELO in many months, but climbing it up meant carrying the 75% of the times, a ****ing 1 vs 5 match, where my team could just win the match playing with 1 hand and 1/4 of the brain, while I was sweating to take it to the limit and win it.
As time gone by, from ~1300 to ~1700 ELO made me hate more and more that game, and what was the straw that broke the camel, was achieving +1700 ELO and much people around still suck.
I said myself "so much time spent on this to get almost the same as before?!"

And what I wanna tell too, is that before I had that ELO, at least at the start of climbing it up, I was almost as nice player as when I had ~1700, but NOBODY wanted to play with me, any good player didn't want to play with such a Low ELO guy, and I was just DOOMED for months to play with those retards if I some day wanted to play a decent match

By the way, Drakerip, easy means the next:

You can get challenged by a few months experienced League of Legends team and you still have some chances to lose it, even if you are great (and your team, at least, has the same or more "skill lvl" than them.
You know, crit runes, tryndamere, autotarget stunners... Blah blah

That didn't happen in DotA

I don't understand what you mean.
"Challenged by a few months League of Legends team".
Do you mean that a mediocre team can win over a random group, despite there being someone thats way better than the premade? That's the only thing I can think of that you mean; well, you can't meet premades in 5x5 ranked SoloQue ;)

I don't necessarily hate this game, but by now, even I'm starting to lose patience with Riot Games.
Some champions are completely out of proportion (Mordekaiser and Tryndamere), Flash is overrated, delays delays delays, and I'm really do get tired of people who try to get you mad. It's just, wrong!
A clean community is Riot's top priority, and yet, there are so many trolls and childish players. I don't get it! I guess competition really ticks off people.

In the end, I don't hate LoL, but I'm slowly starting to.
DOTA 2 will DESTROY all the current MOBA games out there, including LoL and HoN.
(Note: I don't care for HoN at all)

I didn't play a game without reports the last month. Anyone is flaming, leaving or intentionally feeding in nearly every game. ELO doesn't matter, those people are everywhere in the ladder.
LoL as the game is not bad, but with those players it is a ****.

I hate LoL. But it wasn't always like this. I first discovered LoL during its beta, when I was also playing Heroes of Newerth beta. My first impressions were a very simple game in comparison to DotA and HoN. I used to enjoy it a bit, especially when I got my friends into it. Not surprisingly, it was a lot easier to get them into LoL since it's more casual oriented. Since then I've played around 1000 games, and all I can say is how much I hate it now. I refuse to play it unless I'm playing with 4 other friends, and even then it's boring.

I have several issues with the game, the first being that nothing in the game has a rewarding feeling. Take annie for instance, she is one of the strongest champions in the game, and yet an autistic monkey could still do decent on her. Then you can take a skillshot oriented champion like Ezreal and he is quite underwhelming, even if you manage to have 100% hit change on your skillshots.

Second, balance is sometimes rediculously bad. I love randoming, it's a good opportunity to learn to play other champions. You can't do that in LoL because you have a chance of getting a champion that Riot decided to throw in the closet and forget about. Aside from that, Riot has a really hard time balancing champions in general--they only balance a few champions per bi-weekly patch, and these balances are hit or miss 50% of the time. It really is just disappointing and you would expect more from a company that is doing so well.

General boredom is the big thing that made me hate LoL though. Some people go as far as to say that LoL is a 30 minute farm fest and then a couple team fights. Although this is rarely true, laning phase is very long and very boring--its pretty much last hit and harass. Since its easy to last hit every creep in a wave, there is very little challenge. In Dota and HoN, last hitting is significantly harder, plus you have to worry about denying. The thing that irritates me about LoL when it comes to denying (other than the fact that its not there) is that the creators said "denying encourages passive play." IMO, this is only true in a lane with 2 newbs vs 2 newbs. When you have to worry about last-hitting, denying, and harassing, as well as watching for ganks, the ability to excel at all of those aspects of the laning phase is truly challenging and fun. Especially compared to LoL laning phase which is just farm, harass, and flash out of the tiny, protected lanes when the jungler ganks.

I've recently started playing HoN again since its free, and although I'm disappointed that they have adopted LoL's model of unlocking heroes with play, I'm enjoying it. It's certainly changed a lot from launch. I will be playing Dota 2 for good once it goes open beta.

Although in this post I've been bashing LoL, it does a lot of good things too. Then again, I haven't hit everything about it that makes it pale in comparison to Dota.

TL;DR Kudos to you who play LoL and enjoy it. It lacks the action and the required awareness factor for it to be enjoyable for me. And it kills me that so many people love this game when I have grown to hate it.

I am slowly getting really frustrated with LoL. Take for instance the decline in the attitudes of the community. Its one of the main reasons for the hatred being driven at the game. Sure 50% of the time Riot cannot balance heroes to save their lives, but with a great community delivering proper and intelligent feedback, the game could have move forward by miles. Sadly though, that is not the case. The forums are spammed with "OMFG! OP Tryn! He needz nerfz". Shit like that just drove the game straight into hell.

Thankfully, someone like IceFrog exists. A master at balancing the RTS genre. Sure the community might be prudent, but he only listens to those realistic claims of heroes being overpowered or underpowered. That is why I am making the move to Dota 2.
