So were all excited for something that we'll only get in the next 5 years? lol. Why dont we just buy it at release if satisfy's us the way we expected we have nothing to lose. And I'm sure DotA wont die. It will allways have it's players.

A significant part of the community will be reluctant to pass onto dota2, methinks.
In some countries the price of a game is something you can't ignore, and the required PC specs will be a problem to a lot of crappy internet cafés.

I remember a webcafe in India where a lot of people were playing dotA, war3 running on pieces of junk you would think being stolen from a museum O_o. dotA managed to run, I don't think dota2 will, and the amount of player in those areas is not something to overlook.

Never thought of that, but the iFrog did say that Dota 2 will be formatted to suit shitty PC's as well.

Video: Video card must be 128 MB or more and should be a DirectX 9-compatible with support for Pixel Shader 2.0b (ATI Radeon X800 or higher / NVIDIA GeForce 7600 or higher / Intel HD Graphics 2000 or higher).

ofc, dota2 wont have super high requirements, valve are doing very good job with pushing them down, thats why source engine is so popular

Oh. I hope they won't bring "name" issues like Guinsoo or Euls, etc.

Yeah i don't think dota 2 will require highend hardware, but it's always nice to be able to play at high resolutions :D now that i remember the doom pick was in 2560x1600 or something like that.

Why not? O_o they are tributes to the game's history, and I think with the move from Warcraft III to Source, it's more important then every to preserve what's left of the legacy of the previous developers of this game.

I'm a little worried when Dota 2 comes out. The original was based off Warcraft's map maker and was completely free for players and IceFrog himself. Without worrying about any businesses he was able to focus primarily on gameplay entirely, which gained his reputation upon a lot of MOBA players these days.

Now Dota 2 is off on it's own making their own game and IceFrog, and his development team, has to start considering money in his works or else it would be shut down. Should they decide to implement in-game shops to keep their business, it's gonna lost most of its devoted players and it's reputation will be lost to the other two MOBA games. :S

Dota 2 will be free
Most of dota players (7-10millions) are located in china, and in china i don't think that they would stop playing a free game which is also considered as an E-Sport to play dota 2 if they had to pay!!!

what i predict, either dota 2 remain completely free in asian countries and payable in western ones(like 5-10 dollars) or it will be something like LoL is doing (microtransactions) or Completely free to all.

Valve doesn't care at all about dota, this company is only using this game (which i assumed require not so much of a money to develop since everthing are already made, they just have to copy paste) in order to make freeadvertisement for his other games. And also, to increase his steam community player base and thus becoming No.1 reference for online gaming!

(What am pretty sure is that DotA 2 will either be very very very cheap in asian countries or FREE)^^

Source? Also Reign of Chaos + Frozen Throne is not free.

There is no such thing as a game being free in one continent but not in another. Well, there is but it's called piracy and it's, y'know, illegal.

Ahahaha. First of all, Valve is publishing the game, but Icefrog is developing it (or is he ;)). Secondly, Warcraft 3's engine is dated and ugly and everything from terrain to the models have had to be redesigned from scratch. The only thing that hasn't been touched is the balance because people like you would complain anyway. Finally, Steam is way more successful than battlenet will ever be; Valve definitely do not need DoTA considering they have their own award winning games (ever heard of Half life, Counterstrike, Team Fortress or Portal?) as well as thousands of other games distributed by Steam. You might also want to get off your high-horse about DoTA's impact as of all the gamers I've ever talked to I've been the first introduction to the style whereas everyone knows of Starcraft or Counterstrike. Hopefully Steam will make the game more popular and available to the public.

Unfortunately I'm not sure if I've been trolled or not.

If Valve didn't care about DotA, they wouldn't've hired IceFrog to develop it. But Valve DOES care about it's community, that's why they are so popular, because they have a history of being supported by, and supporting, the community. That's why I'm actually happy it's Valve developing it and not Blizzard, tbh.
